The Start Of the End

He sat on the exam table, shaking.
His mother to his left,
his father to his right.
The doctor walked in the room,
nervously reading off his clipboard.
"You only have eight months."

The is my entry for the mothers day prompt from Trifecta.
The prompt was to write a 33 entry word entry with the word 'mother' in it.

  1. tough news to take - with or without one's parents nearby. I'm thankful his are there.

  2. That's just awful, as much for his parents as for him.

  5. Thanks for linking up with Trifecta this weekend. Ugh--this is not good news to get, is it?

  6. How heartbreaking. Oddly, I kept flashing back to when my son skinned his finger. Because he was so cooperative (a weird state for him) they didn't need to sedate him. But Scott and I had to help hold him perfectly still for the twenty two stitches. So that's where I was at mother on one side, father on the other, shaking on the exam table. So you can imagine what the doctor's line did to me.
